Nissan Leaf 1st Gen

7.1 Total Score
Verdict

The Nissan Leaf 1st gen is arguably the most famous electric vehicle in the world. Nissan has sold over 250,000 units since the Leaf was launched in 2010, making it one of the best selling EVs of all time. Despite its limited range, Nissan Leaf 1st Generation is a very good electric town car and quite able family transport, with appealing levels of refinement and comfort.

PROS
  • A completely electric powertrain marks the 1st generation Nissan Leaf as the first of a new breed of car, and per mile, electricity costs about 70 percent less than gasoline. Navigation, a Bluetooth phone system, telematics, and an iPod connection all come standard, and the car includes a database of charging stations.
CONS
  • A range of about 100 miles limits the car's tasks, and recharging takes hours at a standard AC outlet. Using the climate control takes a significant toll on range.
