The Segway Ninebot ES 1 Review
The Segway ES 1 also referred to as the Ninebot is one of the first electric scooters to be produced after Segway purchased Ninebot and rebranded the company as Ninebot By Segway in 2015. The scooter is seen as a successor to the popular Mijia M365 which was created by Xiaomi with the help of Ninebot.
What to Expect with the ES 1?
Well for starters the ES1 is equipped with an array of features, with excellent specifications ensuring that the scooter is a solid performer. It is a high-quality product evident from its build quality and use of materials.
The built-in 250W hub motor can reach up to 12.4 miles per hour which is pretty decent. Though if you want to limit the speed that’s possible by using the on/off toggle switch which sets it to economy mode, and can toggle through sports mode which is faster and normal mode. It is also possible to use the mobile app to set the exact limit beyond which the scooter will not go. The scooter has a distance of 15.5 miles, after which it has to be charged for around 3.5 hours.
Look and Feel
The ES1 is a premium looking scooter which looks very similar to the ES2 but with the same top speed. The only differences between the two are rear suspension parts, led lights and brake light.
If the 15.5 miles limit isn’t enough for you, it is possible to expand the battery by using an additional one mounted to the scooter’s frame. By essentially adding another battery you’re upgrading it to an ES3, with a distance of 28 miles. The ES1 also gives you an extra 3.1mph of extra speed on the top end of the spectrum which is similar to the ES2. So, the additional difference perhaps if you add the spare battery between the ES1 & 2 is the brake light, rear shock, LED lights, torque, and speed.
Recommended or Not?
We would highly recommend the Segway ES1 for teens and young adults alike who want to add a bit of fun to their often-boring commute. The well-built, sturdy design with excellent battery life makes it a keeper. Plus, the addition of two brakes makes it extra safe because if one does not work the other sure will. Other than that, it folds making it easy to take along anywhere to go, not to mention the fact that it is reliable and easy to use
